Jack Doohan: From Karting Star to Formula One Rookie

Jack Doohan, born on 20 January 2003 in Gold Coast, Queensland, is currently driving for Alpine and is the son of five-time Grand-Prix motorcycle world champion Mick Doohan.
Doohan began his motorsport journey in karting, where he achieved significant success, winning the Australian Karting Championship in 2015 and 2016. He transitioned to single-seater racing in 2018, competing in the F4 British Championship with the TRS Arden Junior Racing Team. During this season, he secured three victories and finished fifth overall in the standings.
In 2019, Doohan competed in the F3 Asian Championship with Hitech Grand Prix, finishing as the runner-up after securing five race wins. He continued to build his reputation in the racing world by participating in the Euroformula Open Championship with Double R Racing, where he achieved two podium finishes.
Doohan's progression continued in 2020 when he joined the FIA Formula 3 Championship, driving for HWA Racelab. Despite a challenging season without scoring points, he demonstrated resilience and determination. In 2021, he switched to Trident Racing and finished as the championship runner-up, showcasing his growth and potential as a driver.
Advancing to the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2022 with Virtuosi Racing, Doohan secured multiple wins over two seasons and finished third in the 2023 championship standings. His performances in Formula 2 led to his promotion to a full-time Formula One seat with Alpine for the 2025 season, partnering with French driver Pierre Gasly.
Doohan made his Formula One debut at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, replacing Esteban Ocon, who had departed the team early. He qualified in twentieth position and finished the race in fifteenth, gaining valuable experience ahead of his full-time role in the 2025 season.
In his first full season in Formula One, Doohan has faced challenges typical for a rookie driver. He has yet to score points in the initial races and has encountered incidents leading to penalty points on his super licence. Despite these hurdles, Doohan remains focused on adapting to the pinnacle of motorsport and is determined to make a significant impact as he gains more experience.
Throughout his career, Doohan has demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and a continuous drive for improvement. As he navigates the demands of Formula One, his journey reflects a commitment to excellence and a passion for racing that continues to propel him forward.
